The image above (click to see in my photoblog) has been stolen to sell some H L Art Glass at Indiamart.com. Normally I don’t get too upset when I stumble across my photos that have been stolen but when it’s used to sell something it gets my back up. I’ve written them a shirty email asking for them to remove it but had no response, as this was over a week ago I thought I’d have a rant here as well. Anyone know how to deal with this?

Are you familiar with Robert Genn’s twice weekly art newsletters at Painter’s Keys? He opens his words up for some lively discussions with other artists, and on occasion this type of “theft” is discussed and how they’ve resolved it.

I had the same happen to me with one of shots being used and sold off as laptop skins. Like you, I dont mind it when people use my shots but to make monetary gain off my work is not acceptable. I emailed them about it and they agreed to go ahead and actually license the shot from me. I hope you are also successful in at least giving you credit where its due.
Well I e-mailed them and urged them to speak to you about a license.

Alternatively check out Google’s DMCA policy. Indiamart run Google ads and would probably not want to be banned
Thanks Pat, no I haven’t seen that site before. It looks like a good read, I’ll have a root around and see if I can find a solution.
Good to here you had a good outcome frisky, I’m not sure I’ll be so lucky as all my attempts to contact them have been met with a deafening silence.
