C-Dek track has been used on Keith Seatman’s latest Test Transmission, Archive Reel 5 which is very good. Thanks Keith.

I was noticing my page rank disappear fast, one of my mates pointed to Google’s results on searching for Deceptive Media to be a bit strange (as the image above), producing results like “Windows Xp Home Edition Full — Discount – 182% price off”.

I looked at the source code and concluded it must be a glitch at Google as I couldn’t see any problems and hoped they would sort it soon. After a few weeks I realised that it must be problem with Deceptive Media. I found this post after a hours of searching which seemed to be exactly my problem. Following the directions on Jon Buckley’s site sorted the problem.

Thanks Jon.

Update: (21 Sept 2011) I’m still suffering from this hack 2 months on from this post. It’s proving really difficult to eradicate.

Update: (04 April 2012) Should have updated earlier but I wasn’t confident. I think this problem has finally gone!

Second exhibition with David Baker of Milouvision. This one at Eastleigh Museum, 25 High Street, Eastleigh SO50 5LF. The exhibition runs from  16 April 2011 to 21 May 2011.

We learnt a lot from the last one and think we have improved on our display skills this time. We’ve also decided to include a broader selection of material this time rather than just coastal photography as before.

Exhibition site: resonance-exhibition.co.uk.

A collaborative project with David Baker of Milouvision.

My flickr comments are slowly being merged in to my photoblog posts using Tarique’s excellent Live Flickr Comment Importer plugin for wordpress. You can see results on this post, I have to add a custom field in each post for this to work so it will take some time to get them all in.

Some of you may have noticed on the about page that I now have a twitter account, follow me if you like. I’m not sure how I feel about twitter at the moment but at least it’s another way to announce a new photoblog post.

wp update

Since switching to WordPress I’ve been frantically working on the site. Finally I think I have all the bugs ironed out and am happy with the look and functionality.

It’s taken many hours, I shall now concentrate on my photography and the site content.

Switch To WordPress

Deceptive Media now runs on WordPress. I work with WordPress everyday and have recently felt that Deceptive Media should be moved to WordPress.

When I first started photoblogging there really wasn’t much out there, and what was required fast amounts of hacking to get working as a photoblog. So my brother offered to build one which he called DeView. We developed it together other the years and it has served very well. In some ways I’m sad to see it go, but I wanted to integrate my photoblog and the news and inspiration part of my blog more, which was already running on wordpress. Having two different blogging software’s to power my site was making design changes difficult as I liked to keep a uniform look. I also wanted friendly URL’s, and threaded commenting.

Recently I was interviewed at PetaPixel and this reminded me that Deceptive Media was originally going to show case all my creativity (photography, videos and music) so I’ve made a place for my music & videos (not much there yet), though Deceptive Media will remain primarily a photoblog.

Big thanks to my brother for making this possible by mapping the the databases, He’s written a little about it here. And also a big thanks to whoismanu for his excellent photoQ plugin, turning WordPress into a very capable photoblog.

I’ve kept the main RSS feed as just the photoblog for now, if you’d prefer to subscribe to everything then you can here.

PetaPixel

Michael Zhang of PetaPixel has interviewed me about my photoblog.

css3
I’ve added some CSS3 effects, mainly rounded corners and drop shadows, these won’t show in Internet Explorer though.

new-menu

I have plans to add more pages to this site so I needed to re-design the header to generate some more space.

C-Dek

C-Dek is my ambient podcast serving up minimal ambient electronic soundscapes.

The basic idea is to upload soundcapes as they are completed and then as I reach roughly an hours worth of material I’ll upload a version of these tracks as one continuous mix, which will become part of the Resonance Volumes.

Updates will be at a sedate pace.

Update: I’ve moved C-Dek on to a sub-section of this blog.

moblog

A few years ago some of you may remember I used to have a Moblog called GX30.net which was for photos I took with my Sharp GX30 mobile phone. The camera on the phone was crap technically but some how produced photos that I loved. I found the cameras in all subsequent phones I owned to be not nearly as good and lost interest in my moblog which eventually died.

I recently got a HTC Magic and I think that it’s capable of some crap photos in a similar way to the GX30 so hence I’ve added a Moblog section to Deceptive Media for these photos. I’ll also be posting all the better GX30 photos I have plus some from other camera phones I’ve owned.

sandy

Milou caught me in action at West Wittering beach last weekend, it was an enormously windy day and the sand being blown around was (still is) wrecking havoc with our cameras.

Milou currently has an exhibition at Moors Valley Country Park:

coloured-glass

The image above (click to see in my photoblog) has been stolen to sell some H L Art Glass at Indiamart.com. Normally I don’t get too upset when I stumble across my photos that have been stolen but when it’s used to sell something it gets my back up. I’ve written them a shirty email asking for them to remove it but had no response, as this was over a week ago I thought I’d have a rant here as well. Anyone know how to deal with this?
